ABOUT OUR SCHOOL
Serrano Elementary School opened in 1986 . Serrano's vision is to equip students with a solid learning foundation to achieve high academic performance. At Serrano, we are proud of our "Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports" (PBIS) program. Behavioral expectations are implemented, monitored, and evaluated following school-wide expectations. Our PBIS rewards program works to celebrate and incentivize students' good choices and behavior. Students have the opportunities to use these rewards at the SOAR store. Serrano has earned a Platinum Award for our program.
Serrano Elementary serves students in TK through fifth grade, and offers a comprehensive curriculum that is aligned with the state and national standards. The school is dedicated to providing an opportunity of strong social and emotional learning where students feel safe and appreciated and their differences are welcomed. We are committed to providing a rigorous academic program that challenges students to reach their full potential.
Our Serrano Hawks are held to high expectations so that all students meet or exceed their educational potential through both student and school-wide goal setting. These goals are continually monitored and adjusted to ensure we meet the needs of every child. Students are challenged with rigorous instruction through: grade level benchmarks, consistently following district adopted programs with fidelity, instruction with a high depth of complexity, and intentional teacher action planning and pacing.
STEAM For All
Serrano Elementary is proud to be a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) school. The STEAM pathway provides students with opportunities for inquiry based learning and rich academic conversations, which prepare our students to be 21st century learners. Our school is proud of our Esports team, our robotics club, our Specialized Programmable Animatronic and Robotics Kit for Education (SPARK-E), our Serrano Dance Club, and our Red Knights Chess Club.
