Principal's Message
Welcome to the 2022-23 school year at Serrano Elementary School! My name is Dr. Selene Amancio and I have the honor and privilege to be serving you as your child’s principal at Serrano Elementary School.
Our Mission at Serrano Elementary is to ensure students are college and career ready by achieving high academic standards in a safe and positive learning environment. We promote a positive culture and open communication where your child's education is at the center of our professional community. Please never hesitate to contact your child’s teacher via email, telephone, or schedule a meeting to meet with them and discuss your concerns. Serrano is committed to student achievement because we believe all students can and will learn when presented with an engaging grade level appropriate curriculum.
Serrano supports our district's 11 Commitments to Excellence on Purpose, Strategic Plan, and LCAP (Local Control Accountability Plan) priorities. Some of the new and continuing educational and student support initiatives at Serrano Elementary include the ELA Wonders curriculum, Language Power for English Language Learners, Step-up to Writing, Thinking Maps, Social Emotional Learning curriculum, Technology Integrated Instruction using Classlink to access various technology applications and implementing year six of PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Support).
We recognize the importance of school attendance and the correlation with higher academic results. Please support us with this important priority by having your child on time at school every day. Our academic school day begins at 7:45 a.m.
Parent communication and involvement is valued at Serrano Elementary. You will be notified of important parental support seminars and other volunteering opportunities through multiple formats such as school flyers, the electronic marquee, Parent Square, recorded phone calls, text emails, text messages, and our school web-site.
