Dear Amazing Serrano Families:
Welcome to the 2018-19 school year at Serrano Elementary School! My name is Emilio Gallegos and I have the honor and privilege to be serving you and your child as new principal at Serrano Elementary School.
Our Mission at Serrano Elementary is to ensure students are college and career ready by achieving high academic standards in a safe and positive learning environment. We promote a positive culture and open communication where your child's education is at the center of our professional community. Please never hesitate to contact your child’s teacher via email, telephone, or schedule a meeting to meet with them and discuss your concerns. Serrano is committed to student achievement because we believe all students can and will learn when presented with an engaging grade level appropriate curriculum.
Seneca supports our district's Strategic Plan and LCAP (Local Control Accountability Plan) priorities. Some of the new and continuing educational and student support initiatives at Serrano Elementary include the new ELA Wonders curriculum, Step up To Writing, Thinking Maps, Character Development, Growth Mindset, Technology Integrated Instruction, and implementing year two of PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Support).
We recognize the importance of school attendance and the correlation with higher academic results. Please support us with this important priority by having your child on time at school every day. Our academic school day begins at 8:00am.
Parent communication and involvement is valued at Serrano Elementary. You will be notified of important parental support seminars and other volunteering opportunities through multiple formats such as the school electronic marquee, Peachjar paperless system, Blackboard Connect system of recorded phone calls, emails, and text messages, and our school web-site.
